In the very center of Esperanda is an old fortress built, as scientists suggest, in the first half of the 13th century, one of the dukes of the aristocratic family. At the end of the 15th century, during one of the wars, it was almost completely destroyed, but later it was restored. In 1679, she was occupied by the troops of the French king Louis XIV, and in 1798 she became one of the strongholds of the Great French Revolution. To this day, the fortress has been preserved in a relatively good condition, and in 1984 the ball was included in the list of objects representing the national treasure of the principality of Luxembourg.
