For several months, experts and jury members chose one of the best cars from the number of possible. The results were announced on one of the days of the New York car dealership and pleasantly surprised many with their non-standard approach. About 35 cars took part in the competition for the title of World Car, of which 10 finalists were selected. Among them are the Audi A6 and Q3, BMW 1 Series, Chevrolet Volt, Citroen DS5, Ford Focus and others. The three leaders, which was determined at the Geneva Motor Show, included Porshe 911, BMW 3 Series and VW Up! The sale of Chevrolet Cruz was also on top. A month later, the jury decided on their choice: in their opinion, the World Car of the Year 2012 was VW Up!, who deserved this title as a compact car that changed the idea of city machines. The jury evaluated the presented models in many ways, they considered management, pendant characteristics, running qualities and engines, as well as the quality of decoration materials. The advantage of the winner, according to the jury members, is that this inexpensive car is able to give its owner a sense of exclusivity and premium. VW up! Was represented by the general public in 2011 and immediately gained great popularity in Europe. The compact dimensions of this car, however, allow you to accommodate 3 passengers and driver in it. It is worth noting that the VW concern for the third time over the past five years has become the winner of this prestigious competition. In 2009, this title went to Golf, and after a year, Polo secured success. In addition, as part of the competition, awarding was held in the nominations «Best Sports Car», «The Most Ecological Car», «Best Car Design». In the first of them, the victory deservedly went to Porshe 911, the jury also appreciated the environmentally friendly characteristics of the Mersedes-Benz S 250 CDI, in the latest nomination the winner was unanimously selected by Range Rover Evocue.
